2025 Canadian Memory Championships

Congratulation to Pratik Khemani for winning the 2025 Open Canadian Memory Championships.

Pratik got it right until the 21 digits. Since he used public transportation to get to the venue, his score has not been adjusted.

The memory technique he claimed to use was to memorize the digits two by two, one group on top of the other. He promises to get his count up to 50 digits for next year!

Location: Toronto, TBA. Most likely a downtown by the subway location. We are looking for now to the Metro Hall Rotunda at 55 John St as the rallying point. Other locations elsewhere in Canada may be possible. Please, contact us if you’d like to organize such competition in your locality.

Contest Info:

This year will be a simple pi test (3.14159…) up to 3000 digits. Some additional memory test may be used if the pi test isn’t able to determine a clear winner. Know as many pi digit as you can. Memorize up to 3000 digits and you’ll be ready.

The test will simply be about giving like 10 digits of pi and asking for the following two digits. For instance this number may be given, 8327950288, and the contestant must provide the following two digit, 41.

3.1415926535897932384626433-8327950288-41

Who ever remembers correctly the answers wins. Achievements certificates will be provided to all contestants who appear to know the first 100 digits of pi and over.

Scoring

Scores will be assessed by chunks of 100s with a 3000 points maximum score before climate change adjustments are made.

To help reduce green house gas emissions, a vegan diet has been recommended  by Universities and others.

Therefore, memory athletes known who credibly claim to be vegans will have their scores adjusted upwards by 10% at the discretion of the organizer.

Since women generally do not have the same opportunities as men, their scores will be adjusted upwards by 10% . And since younger people will suffer more from global warming, we’ll give them 10% above their scores. Under 25 years old contestants can claim this bonus.

How contestants travel to the competition will also affect the score. The use of a plane or any privately owned car to travel to the competition will reduce your final score by 15%. Contestants who decline to inform the organizer of their means of transportation to the competition will also have their score reduced by 15%.

Some urgent crisis are way more important than any memory competitions and we will make sure that this is in evidence at the 2025 Canadian Memory Championships.

Prize: 2025 Canadian Memory Champion Title, and the winner gets a vegan pie!

    1. Yes, there will be two sections: one for Canadians only and another open to anyone. All the Memory Disciplines are the same but the scores are reported on different score sheets. The Open Section offers no cash prize to the winner but there will still be a medal. Last year, Livan Grijalva came from the USA to participate and won the Open Section.
