Contest Info:
This year will be a simple pi test (3.14159…) up to 3000 digits. Know as many pi digits as you can. Memorize any amount of digits up to 3000 digits and you’ll be ready.
The test will simply be about giving a slice of 10 digits of pi and asking for the following or previous two digits. For instance this number may be given, 8327950288, and the contestant must provide the following two digit, 41.
3.1415926535897932384626433-8327950288-41
Who ever remembers correctly the answers wins. Achievements certificates will be provided to all contestants who appear to know the first 100 digits of pi and over.
This contest will take place outdoors, in the park between the Bell Canada building (483 Bay Street) and the Eaton Center’s West side. It will likely last less than 1 hour but still, be prepared and dress warmly.
Scoring
Scores will be assessed by chunks of 50s or 100s with a 3000 points maximum score before climate change adjustments are made.
To help reduce green house gas emissions, a vegan diet has been recommended by Universities and others. Therefore, memory athletes known who credibly claim to be vegans may have their scores adjusted upwards by 20% at the discretion of the organizer.
Since women generally do not have the same opportunities as men, their scores will be adjusted upwards by 10% . And since younger people will suffer more from global warming, we’ll give them 10% above their scores. 25 years old contestants and under can claim various bonus.
How contestants travel to the competition will also affect the score. The use of a plane or any privately owned car to travel to the competition will reduce your final score by 15%. Contestants who decline to inform the organizer of their means of transportation to the competition will also have their score slightly reduced by 15%.
Some urgent crisis are way more important than any memory competitions and we will make sure that this is in evidence at the 2026 Canadian Memory Championships.
